Case Study: Cook Highway Disaster Remediation Project Construction Photography & Drone Videography.

Project Overview 

Following severe weather events in Far North Queensland, significant remediation works were required along the Captain Cook Highway to restore and strengthen one of the region's most important transport corridors. The Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) project involved complex slope stabilisation and geotechnical works at multiple locations between Ellis Beach and Oak Beach, helping safeguard the highway against future weather events and ensuring reliable access for local communities and visitors alike. 
 
Georgiou STRABAG engaged Andrew Tunney Photography to capture professional visual content across four active work sites, providing up-to-date imagery and video footage for stakeholder reporting, internal communications and media purposes. 

The Challenge 

The client required high-quality visual documentation of remediation works across multiple locations along the Captain Cook Highway. The content needed to clearly communicate project progress and showcase the scale and complexity of the engineering works to stakeholders. 
 
Challenges included multiple active construction sites, strong winds affecting aerial operations, rain during later stages of the shoot, and the need to capture both construction activity and team imagery while minimising disruption to site operations. 

Our Approach 

Working closely with Georgiou STRABAG's Communications Coordinator, a comprehensive content capture plan was developed to maximise coverage across all four project locations. 
 
Services included ground-based construction photography, aerial drone photography, drone video footage, project progress documentation, team photography at Ellis Beach and aerial flyover footage captured at the conclusion of the shoot.
